ok alright, but just alright
Been seeing moe since 1996 at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor and while I always enjoy their show sometimes they just never get to overdrive. This particular evening they managed to get going a few times but no major long drawn out head shattering jams. Lots of stop and go until the Opium> 32 Things which certainly got going with Allie Kral on fiddle. She and Chuck seemed to have a great report and enjoyed themselves quite a bit. A great way to bring the first set to a close. The second set took some time to build as well and was really just a standard list. Nothing to crazy just solid play. Then they broke out Kyle's Song > Moth and of course that got us all going. The fact that I went in looking for those two back to back didn't hurt for my part. The lofty happy times of Kyle's Song and the riddicculous lyrics of moth always make me smile. They closed it out well with a Mar-Dema and an always fun if not short Spine of the Dog. Copmpared with last years trip to CO at the Fillmore this show was much more a Moe show and far less a special guest night. Allie Kral was a nice touch and the show as a whole made for a great night. Not their best not their worst but certainly a couple nice gems in this one.
